The Heber Creeper

The Heber Creeper. Sounds like a creepy guy from Heber. But in all actuality it is a train in Heber City, Utah. My son and all his little boy cousins are obsessed with all things train. My sweet Mother decided to purchase train tickets for the family during Father's Day.  I took lot's of pictures and the boys had tons of fun. Mom and Dad bought them all a wooden train whistle and before the train took off they had actors pretend to have a cowboy "shoot off." At the end they threw salt water taffy to the kids and Drew loved it. My favorite part was riding around the side of Deer Creek Reservoir.  Lots of people were out on boats fishing and camping. *Note to self: Be rich enough to own a boat:) The only complaint I would have is that the train went so, so slow! 25 miles an hour for 90 min round trip. I would have enjoyed it a lot more if it went at least 50.

A 4 month Old Baby Girl!

Time is just flying by these days. The house is halfway done, the baby is 4 months old, the boy is 4 and ready to start preschool! I love being a mom of two but it has definitely been a challenge trying to keep up with all of the demands. So I am trying my darndest to keep up with this blog since it is my journal. Today I took some pictures of the little miss and wanted to put them up here.

She is such a sweetie pie! Lately Ivy has been teething really bad, whenever I put her binky in her mouth She plucks it out and starts chewing on it as hard as possible. A funny thing She also does is if I sit with her on the couch She loves the texture of it (kind of a denim style) and she loves to hear herself scratch it with her fingernails. I look forward to our house being done this Winter and seeing her crawl and celebrate the holidays with my sweet little family.

Happy 4th of July

Happy 4th of July from our family to yours! I love this beautiful country that we live in.  The 4th of July is one of my favorite holidays. I am truly grateful to have been born in this free country and to have the ability to live life the way I want to. My parents have always taught me to be patriotic and honor those who have served our country. Thank you to all the wonderful service men and women that continue to keep this country free. It is a huge sacrifice to leave your families so that my family can enjoy the wonderful things America offers us.  David and I decided that this 4th we were going to spend it with just Ivy and Drew. We have been so busy lately building our house and working, etc. that it just seemed like an opportunity to relax with the kiddos. First thing we did was go to the movies and see Inside Out. Such a cute movie, I highly recommend it. Then we took Drew to the splash pad in Santaquin and let him play.  Around 6:30 pm we went and ate at The Brick Oven in Provo. We ordered pizza, pasta, salad and chocolate chip cookies. Finally we ended our night by parking and watching the fireworks from the Stadium of Fire and getting ice cream from the BYU Creamery on 9th. I hope you all had a wonderful 4th of July 2015. I took some quick pics of Drew and Ivy before we left so I could always remember what they looked like.

Kitchen Inspiration

I am so excited to start this blog! My hope is that you will find inspiration in lifestyle, decor and fashion. Currently my husband and I are building a home ourselves! It is a cute little starter house for us but not my dream home. I guess in reality a dream home of course is something in a dream. If I could have this house custom this is what I would choose, so I put together a little page of things I love. For now I will start with the kitchen and every few days post my inspiration for the other areas in my home. We are expected to be moved in by Christmas 2015.

I am loving cream cabinetry! White is pretty too but I love the antique feel that cream or ivory cabinets give off. In contrast to the lighter cabinets, I absolutely heart the dark, gorgeous island in the middle. On Pinterest I have seen many pictures of islands painted a beautiful slate blue or sage green and it looks heavenly against dark wood flooring.

Another beautiful off white kitchen with contrasting island. The back splash is great with the textured tiles and the subway tiles.  The Carrara marble is beautiful!! My new house is a house on a budget so I chose Chestnut cabinets and Carrara marble looking laminate counters. Some day an upgrade will be in the works. But I am so grateful for the little house we are building for my sweet babies.

Sinks. Marble. Faucets.
Crystal knobs. Cabinets. Newel posts. I could live and cook in this kitchen forever! Especially if the window above the sink overlooks rose bushes.

More marble. Loving the marble back splash. It has a unique pattern to it without needing a lot of color so it is interesting to look at.

The most classy and simple center piece for an island or dining table.  There is nothing more beautiful than pink roses and tarnished silver.

Sorry this pic is a little blurry but it is from http://www.wayfair.com/Barreveld-International-Silverware-Study-A-Graphic-Art-84113-BZV2212.html?refid=SBP. A beautiful sketch of silverware. This would look great in an antique silver picture frame.

Isn't this pendant lovely? It's inspired by an old Victorian hotel light. It looks modern and antique at the same time and would look great with any style of decor. Source for the light https://www.restorationhardware.com/catalog/product/product.jsp?productId=prod1619196&categoryId=cat1701013

Last but not least, our home will have a cute little peninsula.  I would love a set of 2 or 3 of these to eat at the counter with.  https://www.restorationhardware.com/catalog/product/product.jsp?productId=prod640032&categoryId=cat1701094 As you can see my style is a mix of neutrals with texture with an antique appeal to it. I love color as well but mostly if it comes from nature in the form of flowers. Hope this inspires you! Happy Saturday xoxo Jessica Durrant
